English Teacher Jobs

We are looking for a talented and committed English teacher (EFL) to join our friendly, supportive team in Maputo, Mozambique.

As an English as a foreign language (EFL) teacher, you’ll teach English to adults whose first language is not English. More about EFL you find here.

You’ll use a range of course books and materials, plus a variety of audio-visual aids, to encourage students to communicate with each other using the structures and vocabulary they’ve learnt and to improve the four basic language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. A strong emphasis is placed on dialogue and role-playing, but more formal exercises are also used. Classes are always taught in English, even with beginners. More information about our courses you can access here.

As an EFL teacher, you’ll need to:
• plan, prepare and deliver lessons to a range of classes and age groups;
• mark and provide appropriate feedback on oral and written work;
• attend and contribute to training sessions;
• undertake administrative tasks, such as keeping student registers and attendance records. You can read more about our methodology here.

Candidates must have English as their mother tongue and should have an initial teaching qualification (e.g. CELTA, CertTESOL, teaching diploma), a degree, and a professional attitude to their work. A degree in education, English, linguistics or modern languages may be particularly useful, but not essential. Experience would be an advantage, but exceptional newly qualified teachers are welcome to apply.
