International English College (IEC) is an officially registered, private higher education provider offering undergraduate programmes in the area of business administration and English language in a face-to-face learning environment.

Courses

Founded in 2003 it has been granted licence no. 290 from the Ministry of Education in December of the same year. As a business school IEC provides career-driven programmes and tuition towards a selected range of internal and external qualifications.

IEC is characterized by its responsiveness to the changing requirements in industry and student needs, and dedicated to the continuous improvement of the quality of its academic and administrative services.

The College strives towards attaining a reputation of excellence across Africa for its innovative approach to teaching, the performance and employability of its graduates and its absolute commitment to customer service.

It's important to emphasize that the language of instruction for all courses is English. IEC is the first higher education provider in Mozambique, which is not basing its programme on the official language, Portuguese. This fact is vital, because Mozambique is surrounded by English-speaking countries and depends on them for good economic relationships to develop.

Holger S. Schultheiss IEC lays strong emphasis on the use of a scientific, state of the art pedagogy. Hereby the school benefits from the expertise of its Director, Prof. Holger Schultheiss (Ph.D.), holder of a university chair in Philosophy of Education. New developments and findings in scientific research from the fields of methodology and didactics are continuously implemented into practice of teaching at IEC.

Pedagogy

The original approach of IECís teachings exists particularly in the dialectic development of a student centred methodology, which orients itself especially to the characteristics and needs of the society in Mozambique with the goal of linking tradition with modern trends. Therefore only courses of studies and syllabus contents are integrated into the academic programme, which concur with the local needs for future cadres and enable therefore the graduates, to take up or maintain key positions in the economy and administrative structures in Mozambique.
